What services do you offer?
Legacy Journey offers homeland tours to China for adoptive families, China visa services, and China orphanage visits. We’ll work with your family to book the tour that is right for you. We offer a four tour options designed to help your adopted child fall in love with the culture and heritage of his or her birth country. We also offer you the opportunity for you to customize your own tour by adding on a destination to one of 5 locations around China.
Can I use Legacy Journey if I did not adopt through Great Wall China Adoption? Yes! Legacy Journey welcomes all adoptive families who have children from China to travel with us!
What customization options are available for my Homeland Tour?
Legacy Journey will work with you to design a trip that meets the needs of you and your family. Families have the option of choosing one of our four homeland tours, and adding a 4-day destination to the existing tour itinerary. It is also possible to completely customized your homeland tours, from start to finish, where you name each destination and the amount of time you spend there. This requires customized price estimates and you will need to be registered with Legacy Journey to obtain these estimates. Contact us for a price quote today.
What age is appropriate to bring my child on a Homeland Tour?
All children are different, and your child may or may not be ready to visit their birth country or the orphanage they were adopted from. While our tours are designed with children 5-11 in mind, we suggest you consider the emotional development of your specific child.
What if my child is not ready to visit the orphanage they were adopted from?
If your child does not want visit the orphanage they were adopted from, you will be given the option to choose another tourist activity or have free time at your leisure. Orphanage visits are optional.
What’s included on our Homeland Tour?
- Single city destinations do not include airfare to and from the city. Depending on when you travel and the tour you choose, this amount will vary. Contact Legacy Journey for more details.
- Single city destinations do include the following:
- Guangzhou: Chen’s Temple, Baiyun Mountain. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Six Banyan Tree Temple, Dinner at a local restaurant.
- Chengdu: Visit Wangjiang Bamboo Park, interact with local people and practice Taiji. Lunch. Vist Sichuan brocade factory outlet to learn about brocade production. Tour Wenshu Monastery. Visit Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Center.
- Xi’An tour: Big Goose Wild Pagoda and the Xian City Wall,the Terrocotta Army, Jiao Zi (dumpling) dinner and Tang Dynasty singing and dance show.
- Guilin tour: Tour the Elephant Trunk Hill and Seven Star Park. Lunch. Tour the Reed Flute Cave, Cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo with lunch on board.
- Shanghai tour: Yu Yuan Garden, Lunch. Tour the Jade Buddha Temple and the Bund, dinner.
- Homeland tours price includes:
- English speaking adoption guides who have traveled with hundreds of adoptive families.
- All flights and train tickets in the itinerary.
- All domestic ground transportation and tax.
- One standard room.
- Special cultural shows.
- Hands-on crafts, Chinese Historical & Cultural Arts.
- Sightseeing entrance fees and special events.
- Breakfasts daily, lunch and dinner meals as specified in itinerary.
- Homeland tours price does not include:
- International airfare.
- Food and snacks other than daily breakfast and specified meals in itinerary.
- Spending money.
- Travel insurance.
- Orphanage visit fee
- Orphanage province days and activities, transport and hotel (call us for a price estimate for your child’s orphanage)
- Visa processing fees.
- Passport.
- Additional side trips in China.
- Laundry and room service fees, and rollaway bed fees.
- Business center fees at hotel.
Can we travel with other families to China?
Yes, we can certainly arrange for you to travel with one or more families. However, your trip will not be based on other families’ itineraries, as we aim to provide a personalized service that best meets each family’s needs and schedule. We will give each family that travels together on the same itinerary to the same orphanage a 5% discount if 3 or more travel together.

- Decide what tour you would like to take. Feel free to contact us for a personal consultation on which tour would be best for your family.
- Request a tour information packet, which includes our fee policies, liabilities, and guidelines. Please review all documents in the packet.
- Now you’re ready to register! Fill out the Tour Registration Form found in the tour information packet you requested.
- You may send the Tour Registration Form by mail, fax or e-mail to our office. Be sure to include your non-refundable registration fee of $300 by mail if it is a money order or cashiers check (no personal checks accepted), or fax/scan and e-mail a credit card authorization form to 512-323-9599 (we accept Visa and Master Card only).
- If you choose to use Legacy Journey’s visa services, request the visa application and send it to our office along with the visa fees.

What is your refund and deposit policy?
- Nonrefundable registration fee of $300.00 per family at time of registration (does not apply toward cost of the trip).
- Total trip payment is due no later than sixty (60) days prior to tour departure date.
- 80% of trip payment will be refunded if trip is canceled prior to thirty (30) days before departure.
- Payment is nonrefundable if the trip is canceled less than thirty (30) days before departure.
- Some aspects of the tour may be changed at request after the 30 day cancellation deadline, but additional fees may apply.
